Greetings Lea County Friends!

The Lea County Women’s Network invites you to our annual “Irish Hoopla” Fundraiser.  This year’s event will be held on Friday, March 13th at the Hobbs Country Club from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  We will have Hors d ’oeuvres, a cash bar, and silent and live auctions to raise money for our Scholarship and Mentoring Programs. This is a great event to network with other community members, relax, have fun, and raise funds for our scholarship and mentoring programs. Admission tickets are $25.00 each with proceeds benefitting our next generation of leaders.

Each year, LCWN provides scholarships to women of all ages from Lea County who attend New Mexico Junior College or University of the Southwest. Once a student has been awarded a scholarship, LCWN provides that scholarship until graduation from their respective program. These women are mothers, daughters, sisters, and wives in our community looking to improve their lives and families through continuing education.  A wonderful benefit of this scholarship is most of these women continue to live and work in Lea County, which betters the community for all.

Since 2013, LCWN has paid tuitions of 102 scholarships to NMJC and 31 scholarships at USW for a total of $62,000. Many lives have been touched with your generosity. Thank you!!

In addition, the LCWN has a Mentor Program for high school junior and senior girls from Hobbs, Lovington, Jal, and Eunice. This program provides information on careers of interest to them by scheduling speakers representing their interests from the local community. These speakers provide information and guidance on the pursuit of careers in their fields.  The Mentor Program also sponsors a trip to Santa Fe each spring for the girls to visit the capitol and meet legislatures. The girls meet our local senators and house representatives to learn about the political process in New Mexico. Our fundraiser supports the expenses of this trip.  Many of the girls participating in the Mentor Program go on to NMJC or USW to advance their education and become scholarship recipients.

LCWN members appreciate your support and hope to see you at the “Irish Hoopla” Fundraiser on Friday, March 13th. If you would like to be a sponsor for the event, please click here for information on how to support our efforts!
