Massage therapist and myofascial release specialist Debbie McCarthy was the guest speaker at September's luncheon meeting.

Debbie, who has been practicing massage therapy for the past five years, provided insight on Myofascial Release, a unique massage/bodywork. The process is an extremely effective hands on technique providing sustained pressure into Myofascial restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. The specialized therapy works  well to eliminate symptoms like fibromyalgia, headaches, TMJ, carpal tunnel, and many other restrictions through out the body.

Debbie explained that myofascial therapy is different than a traditional massage. The process stretches and releases tight muscles and connective tissue throughout the body. Many clients come to Debbie with a pain in a specific area, but through the therapy, Debbie often finds the source of the pain is from a completely different area of the body. Many times, the pain is a result of injury, trauma, stress, or emotions, which the therapy helps to release.

Debbie learned the technique from Dr. John Barnes, an internationally recognized physical therapist, lecturer, author and authority on Myofascial Release. With her passion for helping people, Debbie has excelled and made a difference in hundreds of patients she has treated.

Debbie shared handouts with the luncheon attends on Myofascial Release as well as the Hobbs Therapeutic Center, where she is employed as a licensed therapist. For more information or to schedule your treatment, contact Deb at 609-335-0246.
