Lea County Women's Network is proud to count NM State Representative Shirley Tyler as one of our esteemed members.

The Honorable Shirley Tyler was born in Howe, Oklahoma where she spent most of her childhood. At 14, the family moved to Ruidoso, NM for three years, before settling in Hobbs in 1957. After graduating from Hobbs High School, Shirley moved to Lovington where she has lived ever since.

Shirley worked nearly 30 years in the Lea County Assessors office and served two terms as Assessor. After retiring, Shirley ambitiously ran for State Representative in 2006 and has proudly served District 61 since 2007. Shirley is a member of several important legislative committees including Welfare Reform Oversight, Business and Industry, and Voters and Elections. She is also an advisor to the Economic and Rural Development committee.

In her free time, Shirley enjoys spending time with her children. Her son Gregg works with Bank of America Investments, and resides in Lubbock, TX with his wife, Rita. Shirley's daughter Diana Sauer and her husband, Jim, are elementary school teachers in Magdalena, NM. Although she does not have grandchildren yet, Shirley is proud of her "granddog", Dixie, who lives in Lubbock.

Shirley is active at Hillcrest Baptist Church, serves on the Nor-Lea Hospital auxiliary, and is a member of the Jal, Eunice, and Lovington chambers of commerce. She has also been a proud member of LCWN since 1998. In her spare time, you can find Shirley reading or enjoying golf.

Be sure to look for Shirley at an upcoming LCWN event and congratulate her on being spotlighted!
