The member spotlight for September is on Debbie McCarthy, who joined Lea County Women's Network this year.

Born in Bridgeton, New Jersey, Debbie grew up in Vineland, NJ and officially moved to Hobbs, NM last June after commuting between Shepherdstown, West Virginia and NM for about a year.
Debbie's husband, Mike, is employed with Penn National Gaming, Inc. and had relocated to NM in 2007 to assume the role of Marketing Director at Zia Park and Black Gold Casino. Deb and Mike had previously relocated to West Virginia several years earlier, where Mike had worked at another Penn property in Charlestown. Debbie's work and family commitments kept her tied to the East when Mike initially moved, but was able to make the big move after tying up loose ends.
Having been in Hobbs for about a year, Debbie already has an outstanding reputation for her therapeutic massage skills. A stay at home mom for many years, Debbie worked in numerous positions as her children grew older, including working as a receptionist and a flight attendant for U.S. Airways. Always interested in holistic healing, Debbie began studying massage therapy five years ago and quickly found a passion for the work. Through her training and professional experience, Debbie has mastered all types of massages, including Swedish, Deep Tissue, Reflexology, Raindrop Therapy, and her specialty, Myofascial Release, which provides sustained pressure into myofascial restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion.
Deb also practices Chakra as well as emotional and energy work. Last summer, Debbie also became certified in equine myofascial release.
Although Debbie enjoys living in Hobbs, she misses her family and many clients back East. Debbie has a 24-year-old daughter, Brittni, and a 26-year-old son, Dirk, who still reside in New Jersey. Dirk has a 14-month-old daughter, Gisele, who is clearly the apple of Debbie's eye. Deb also has a 21-year-old son in the Navy, based in San Diego who is about to ship out to the Persian Gulf.
Now that she's busy with her massage therapy business in Hobbs and the surrounding area, Debbie doesn't have much free time. However, she enjoys golfing, reading, and enjoying the New Mexico sunshine when she does have the time. Debbie and her husband also have enjoyed exploring the Southwest since moving to Hobbs.
At the September luncheon, Debbie will provide an interesting presentation on Myofacial Release and other therapeutic massage techniques. Be sure to join us for the meeting and welcome Debbie to LCWN and to NM!
